“Home Performance with ENERGY STAR" (HPwES) is a program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to encourage homeowners to make energy efficient home improvements. The program depends on specially trained home performance contractors that complete a comprehensive energy audit and make energy efficiency recommendations. Participating contractors need both technical skill and quality management systems. Working with the Department of Energy, EPA is testing new strategies to help contractors succeed through better business and quality management. More about HPwES can be found at: http://www.novahomeperformance.com.
The Building Performance Institute (BPI) is a national credentialing and standards-setting organization leading home performance contractors to quality work and business success. BPI is working with EPA in the HPwES program to ensure that participating contractors have the skills and resources required to deliver energy savings to consumers. More information on BPI accreditation can be found at: www.bpi.org.
